A Legacy Built on Metal, Speed, and Family
It Started with Sprint Cars and a Garage
Long before Taylor Metal Solutions existed, the Taylor name was connected to racing. Terry Taylor raced sprint cars and began building aluminum sprint-car wings in a garage. That hands-on fabrication background became the foundation for everything that followed.
The turning point came when Terry was asked to build a stainless-steel version of a sprint-car wing for a semi truck. The wing was built, installed, and tested — and the result was a discovery that the design could improve fuel mileage by redirecting air up and over the trailer.
That moment changed the direction of the company. What started as aluminum racing wings evolved into stainless and aluminum truck wings, toolboxes, fuel tanks, cab guards, drom boxes, and a wide range of truck-equipment products serving pickup, RV, vocational, fleet, OEM, and heavy-duty truck markets.
33 Products Became 3,000
Terry Taylor founded the company. In 1999, John Taylor joined Taylor Wings full time and helped lead the company into its largest growth period. Under his involvement, Taylor Wings expanded from approximately 33 stock products to more than 3,000 cataloged products, serving customers nationally and internationally.
That growth included product design, new product launches, standardized part cataloging, dealer and OEM support, and expanded aluminum and stainless product offerings for pickup trucks and Class 8 truck applications.
John also helped modernize the company's manufacturing systems through Synchro/Lean Manufacturing practices — improving production output while reducing overhead and creating a more scalable operation. In 2017, the Taylor family sold the original company.
Chapter 3 — A New Beginning
Taylor Metal Solutions — The Legacy Continues
Today, John Taylor is carrying the Taylor family manufacturing legacy forward through Taylor by TMS — a new product line manufactured by Taylor Metal Solutions under JP Taylor Group. Taylor by TMS is not a continuation of the post-sale ownership entity. It is a new chapter.
Focused on relaunching selected proven Taylor products with modern CNC sheet-metal manufacturing, renewed quality control, clear product support, and Taylor-family oversight — Taylor Metal Solutions was born from decades of real manufacturing experience and a commitment to doing things right.
